The Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X are two of the most exciting bikes to arrive in Nepal in recent years — and if you own one, you already know the temptation to make it tougher, more comfortable, and unmistakably yours. The good news is that a handful of well-chosen upgrades transform how these bikes handle real Nepali roads, from Kathmandu traffic to a weekend run out to the hills.
This guide walks through the accessories that actually matter for the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, why each one is worth it, and what to look for. Everything here is available and fitted at Torque Tribe in Lalitpur.
Quick note: Torque Tribe is an independent accessories shop. We're not an official Triumph dealer — Triumph in Nepal is distributed by Hansraj Hulaschand & Co. — but we specialize in helping Triumph owners protect and personalize their bikes.
The engine bars that come with the bike look clean and are reasonably robust, but they sit close to the frame and simply don't extend far enough to protect what matters in a real fall — your tank, your engine casing, and your leg.
A proper crash guard with sliders for the Scrambler 400X solves this. It's built from cold-rolled, powder-coated steel tubes and locks to the frame at three points for maximum rigidity, with precision MIG welding and rust-free stainless steel hardware throughout. The Delrin sliders extend outward from the bike, so in a slide they take the impact and keep the tank and engine off the ground — and they help stop the bike from trapping your leg underneath. As a bonus, those round sliders double as occasional highway pegs on long rides, and the guard is fully compatible with fog lights.
Best of all, it works alongside Triumph's OEM lower engine guard, so you don't have to give up your stock protection to add this — you get both. It also comes with a 6-month warranty on the powder coating.
The radiator sits low and exposed, and it's expensive to replace. A honeycomb radiator guard for the Scrambler and Speed 400 is one of the cheapest, smartest bits of protection you can add. Made from heavy-duty aluminium with a matte black finish, it shields the radiator from stones, sand, and road debris, while the honeycomb pattern actually improves airflow and cooling — which matters on hot days and long climbs. It's light, rust-free for life, and installs with all hardware included.
If you'd rather make a style statement, there's also a UK-flag radiator guard that nods to Triumph's British heritage while doing the same protective job.
Here's something many owners miss: the Speed 400 ships with a skid plate made of plastic. It looks the part but offers little real protection against rocks and hard debris. An aluminium bash plate for the Scrambler and Speed 400 is a straight upgrade — lightweight but genuinely tough, covering the full sump and engine area for both on-road and off-road riding. It bolts on with no modification and, importantly, doesn't reduce ground clearance or affect handling. It's also designed to work with crash bars, so it slots neatly into a full protection setup. There's a Speed 400-specific bash plate option too.
The OEM rack looks sleek, but its carrying capacity is limited — around 5 kg — which is fine for a jacket but not for touring luggage. A Zana top rack with steel plate roughly doubles that, carrying up to 10–12 kg (max 40 L) on a robust 4-point mounting system. It's laser-cut for a seamless fit, finished in matte black, has dedicated slots for tying down bags, and is compatible with most aluminum top boxes. It comes as a black steel-plate version or an anodized aluminum-plate version if you prefer that finish, with a 6-month coating warranty. If you actually use your bike for trips, this is the upgrade that makes it possible.
Both bikes put you in a slightly forward-leaning stance that gets tiring on longer rides. Handlebar risers lift and pull the bars back for a more upright, comfortable position — and they're bike-specific:
Speed 400 owners: a 32mm vertical handlebar riser, machined from solid aluminum billet, raises the bars without any need to change the OEM cables. Direct bolt-on, stainless hardware, no gaps or vibration.
Scrambler 400X owners: an offset handlebar riser brings the bars up and back, which suits the Scrambler's more upright, adventure-style riding position.
It's a small change that makes a surprising difference to comfort on your daily commute.
Many owners find the stock headlight underwhelming once they're riding unlit roads outside the city. A brighter touring headlight upgrade noticeably improves light output and throw, which is a genuine safety upgrade for anyone riding at night or heading out of the valley. Browse the range and we'll help you pick the right one for your bike.
For a premium bike, fitment and finish matter. Genuine Triumph accessories guarantee a perfect fit; quality aftermarket parts — like the powder-coated steel and billet-aluminum products above — often deliver equal or better protection at far better value. The only thing to avoid is cheap, generic copies with thin metal and poor welds. Buying in person means you can inspect the build, confirm the fitment for your exact model, and get it installed correctly.
Whether you're protecting a brand-new Speed 400 or kitting out a Scrambler 400X for touring, we'll help you choose the right parts and fit them properly.

What's the first accessory I should buy for a Triumph Speed 400 or Scrambler 400X?
Start with crash protection. A crash guard with sliders plus a radiator guard protects the tank, engine, and radiator — the parts most expensive to repair — for a relatively small outlay.
Is the stock skid plate on the Speed 400 good enough?
The stock skid plate is plastic and offers limited protection. An aluminum bash plate is a straightforward, worthwhile upgrade that covers the full sump and engine without reducing ground clearance.
Can I keep Triumph's OEM lower engine guard and still add a crash guard?
Yes. Our crash guard with sliders for the Scrambler 400X is designed to be compatible with the OEM lower engine guard, so you can run both.
Do handlebar risers require changing the cables?
No. The 32mm vertical riser for the Speed 400 works with the OEM cables — no modification needed. The Scrambler 400X uses an offset riser suited to its riding position.
How much luggage can the top rack carry?
The Zana top rack carries up to 14 kgs (max 45 L) on a 4-point mount — well above the OEM rack's roughly 5 kg limit — and fits most aluminum top boxes.
